Therapy that begins where your patterns began

İlayda Aydın, psychologist in Amsterdam, offering online therapy in English and Turkish

I am İlayda, a psychologist and counsellor with an MSc in Developmental Psychology from Maastricht University. I work with Schema Therapy, CBT and mindfulness-based approaches, and I am endlessly curious about where our patterns come from.

Sessions are in English or Turkish, online from wherever you are. Whatever brings you here, we start gently and go at your pace.

The approach

How we work together

An integrative, evidence-based practice, shaped around your story.

Long-standing patterns often begin as early survival strategies. Schema therapy helps us find their origins and gently loosen their grip, so old rules stop running your present. My training is ISST approved, through the Dutch Institute for Schema Therapy.

CBT helps you notice the thoughts and behaviours holding you back. Together we build practical skills you can use between sessions, so change shows up in your week, not just in the room.

Trained in the 8-week MBSR program, I bring mindfulness in as a steady, practical skill: a way to stand next to your feelings instead of inside them.

Areas of focus

What we can work on

Therapy is a space to slow down, feel supported, and gently work through what has been feeling heavy. These are some of the areas we often visit. Tap any one to see how we might work with it together.

  • When worry runs ahead of you, or panic turns up out of nowhere, we work to settle your nervous system and understand what it is trying to protect. You will build practical tools to feel steadier from one day to the next.

  • If you are running on empty, we look at what has been draining you and rebuild a pace you can actually keep. We work on boundaries, rest, and a gentler relationship with doing less.

  • A move, a new role, the end of a relationship, becoming a parent. Change can unsettle who you thought you were. We make room to grieve, adjust, and find your footing again.

  • Building a life in a new country can feel exciting and lonely at the same time. We work through the homesickness, the in-between feeling, and what belonging can look like for you here.

  • When the inner critic is loud, we trace where those beliefs began and gently start to rewrite them, so your worth stops depending on getting everything right.

  • If the same dynamics keep coming back, we look at what sits underneath them. How you connect, how you protect yourself, and how you ask for what you need, so you can try something new.

Yes. Many of the people I see have moved to Amsterdam from elsewhere, and we often work on what living abroad asks of you: starting over, finding your footing, and feeling at home in a new place.
